SLAM Home The Advantage!
Speak, Lead And Motivate
What is the JonesyHub?
I believe that at the heart of true success, in professional development or personal growth, is the ability and willingness to speak & communicate effectively; to take the lead and hold to a high standard of performance; and to support & motivate others to do the same.
JonesyHub is a platform to share what I am learning through my progression in these three foundations: to speak, to lead, to motivate. It is about speaking, it is about leading, it is about being motivated and motivating others to progress.
It has two core objectives:
To encourage the inexperienced and support progressive growth in these soft-skill foundations.
To edify the experienced in continual professional development by enhancing their leadership and communication skills.
Now, this may not be for everyone. Some may not want to develop. Some
may feel they have developed enough. Some may not like to think that the way
they have been doing things needs changing. Some just don’t encounter people…
In such cases, Jonesyhub is not for you.
If, on the other hand, progression is your thing, and development excites you: that learning is a continuous endeavour throughout your existence, professionally or personally, then JonesyHub is for you!
JonesyHub is…
A “soft skill” mentoring and guidance programme for anyone with a spirit of development and progression.
It is a platform to …
- Explore professional, personal, and communitive leadership.
- Enhance leadership and communication skills: one to one, within a team, presenting, or leading a group.
- Encourage motivation of self and of those working with you.
“It is about speaking. It is about leading. It is about being motivated and motivating others to progress.”

Speak, Lead, And Motivate
My focus will be on developing leadership & communication and thus increase the means to support & motivate others to:
To Speak, Lead & Motivate. Refine communications skills; enhance leadership; understand & increase motivation.
To Rise above challenges, Raise others around you, and to Remain resilient in your determination to improve and progress.
To stand up and stand out in ability and quality of personal and professional soft-skills.
The primary field for JonesyHub is the professional environment. I hope, however, that such a purpose does not restrict its application: the principles we will discuss have benefits on personal endeavours just as much.
Why?
Because we all have to deal with people. Whether at work or at home; at school or in college; on the street or in the gym, the art of getting on with people is the principal route for our success.
When I started helping young professionals, in an apprenticeship-tutoring role, I consistently found that it was these three relationship skills that held the real key to true, lasting success within the work-place: and certainly more so than the ability to perform technical skills. What was more, it was obvious that there was a need for many of our experienced employees to work on their soft-skills, too.
So, whether we are an employment virgin or a veteran, an employed novice or a Nestor; in a role of leading, following, or sharing, JonesyHub will discuss, deliberate, and develop these three core skill sets – speak, lead and motivate – that will contribute to our success as a leader, a manager, or a team-member.
Now, some are shy, some timid, some just rather hide than stand out, but there comes a time in most of our lives, however, when we are called upon to stand up and stand out. At an interview, in a meeting, completing an assignment, presenting a project, or leading a team, For some of us, this may only happen once, for others, however, it happens a lot!
If we are of the naturally nervous disposition, then I sincerely hope it comes rarely, or never. If, and when that time does come though, be ready!
Jonesyhub is for that time: it is to help us prepare for when we do, if we do, need to stand up: and when we do, we will, indeed, stand out!
It is for these individuals that JonesyHub exists and it is for that purpose that I offer my support and guidance.
Make Small Changes for A Big Difference
What we can do, is so often not as important as how we do it.
Everyone and anyone can learn a hard-skill. It is those who know how to interact, interconnect, and interrelate, while doing it that stand out.
Many new employees lack the support for, or struggle with, the non-technical aspects of professionalism.
Others just want to improve, progress, or gain an edge in these areas.
JonesyHub is a source of support and encouragement for these needs.
It is often the little things that set apart the average from the extraordinary.
Many of these changes come from teachable skills, and with a persistence of application that becomes a discipline, we gain our advantage.
In this unpredictable and highly competitive environment these subtle advantages become huge influences.
SPEAK: Refine personal interaction & communication.
LEAD: Enhance leadership & teamwork.
MOTIVATE: Increase motivation for self & those with whom you work.
Why JonesyHub?
So many school, college and university leavers enter the working world completely unprepared for what lays ahead of them.
What can be done, really is not as important as how it is done. Anyone can learn a hard-skill, but it is those who know how to interact, interconnect, and interrelate while performing it that stand out.
Most “professional preparation” institutions, almost exclusively, focus on hard-skills, such as software systems and data-processing programmes, or tool-handling techniques and equipment operational excellence, and the like.
Rarely though, is thorough attention given to the development of the core soft-skills that surround, and shape, the delivery of those hard technical skills within the workplace.
Even apprenticeships tend to fix attention predominantly (in fact, almost exclusively) on the subject of choice and on the three academic “functional skills” so as to facilitate processes, rather than on the critical people-centered “soft skills” necessary to succeed in an evolving professional world, with people!
Undoubtedly, “subject knowledge” is crucial stuff. Learning the “trade” is central to any employment. The key to success is, and has always been, however, how you go about stuff, just as much – and I would say more – than what stuff you go about doing.
Beyond the subject knowledge one can quickly find themselves on their own; struggling to impress in a new role, compete with others for a position, or learn how to deal with others often older and more experienced than they are.
I have seen good people loose jobs, not have full-time positions offered, or even just fail to complete their term, not because of an inability to do the job, but through a lack of success in how the deal with the interactions and expectations of colleagues, managers, directors, or even business owners.
Hard Boiled or Soft Centered?
What are “hard” and “soft” skills?
Hard – technical – skills are job, or task related knowledge and the abilities necessary to deliver the job, or the task.
Soft – non-technical or relationship – skills are the personal qualities and attributes that drive employees within the workplace through the job or the task.
Hard skills increase employee productivity and efficiency: they allow you to survive in your role.
Soft skills increase employee engagement and effectivity: they allow you to thrive in your role.
Hard skills focus on process implementation.
Soft skills focus on personal interaction.
My World
I have had more success with—and would chose every time—people who have a good core-skill set in personal interaction, communication, and motivation over those with all the knowledge, skill and ability in a technical field.
Why?
Simple: the thing that really makes the world work is people: not procedure; cultures not criteria; societies not systems. What is often described as having the right attitude is, actually, just having the right perspective of the people around you; with the willingness to show respect and the ability to communicate clearly.
Knowledge can be imparted; skill and ability can improve over time. Attitude, on the other hand, is not imparted but chosen, and can change over time, but not always improved!
Where skill is driven by knowledge, attitude is driven by character.
These internal attributes are the true keys to our growth and success and are nurtured from experience, emotion and personal evolution. Character is grown through experience and attitude and is developed through our reaction to those experiences. More often than not, this process is soundly rooted on our interaction with others and shaped by the part they play through these experiences.
If you have the right attitude, or at least are willing to cultivate such, then everything else can be built on top. Start here and grow into something great!
Embrace the art of working with people and you will succeed.
Master the ability to Speak, Lead, And Motivate, and you will have the courage to stand up and have the conviction to stand out!
So, join me to SLAM home an advantage!
Rise, Raise, Remain
JonesyHub encourages us to stand up and helps us to stand out.
The guiding principle is simple: Rise,
Raise & Remain!

- Raise others around us by supporting and encouraging.
- Remain resolute in your determination to hold the standard and progress.
Grow Into Something Great
Embrace the art of working with people and we will succeed.
Master the ability to Speak, Lead, And Motivate and we will have the courage to stand up and the conviction to stand out!
“At the heart of true success is the ability & willingness to communicate effectively; to hold our self to a high standard of performance; and to motivate others to do the same.”
