“Sometimes we just need to step back and shut up.”
Dear Leader,
My granddaughter told me that I am not setting a good example!
She has been well taught in the crucial art of crossing the road safely. She is, thus, a stickler for waiting for the “Green Man”. I, however, have a habit of crossing as soon as it’s clear, “Green Man” or not!
She will not: she will wait!
When crossing the main road close to our house one day, the light was red, but the road was clear. I, therefore, started off, but she pulled me back.
“Grandad! You’re not setting a good example!”
Ouch!
I thought immediately about taking the opportunity to teach the difference between a rule and a principle, but her words had cut deep! So, I just agreed and waited for Mr. Green!
Note to Self!
Sometimes we just have to step back and shut up.
There may be something clever to say, but in the end your actions will speak louder than any words!
