…and SLAM home your advantage!
Stand Up: Stand Out!
Emerging from lockdown and working through the trail of a pandemic is adding a new stress and greater challenges to finding, gaining, or securing employment.
Facing the carnage strewn across the current employment scene, in the wake of wrecked careers and devastated professions: jobs lost and roles revoked: redundancies, reductions, revisions of responsibilities – the professional world has been hit hard and is changing fast.
Will you survive? Will you succeed?
Will you stand up? Will you stand out?
Competing in a job interview, surviving a probation, or retaining a role; whether starting out from school or hanging on to an incumbent position, there is a need to excel with your professional persona.
Now is the time to stand up; now is the time to stand out!
Your Need
Competing at interview?
Surviving a probation?
Retaining a long-term role?
Do you shine or are you overshadowed?
Does your professionalism and personal skill-set give you the confidence to stand up and the quality to stand out?
Speak, Lead And Motivate
What are the most important skills, abilities and behaviours necessary to have the confidence to stand up and courage to stand out?
At the heart of true success, in professional development or personal growth, is the ability and willingness to speak & communicate effectively; to set & hold to a standard of performance; and to support & motivate others to do the same.
It is my experience that true success in any endeavour is anchored to our willingness and ability to communicate (Speak), to set an example and show strong leadership (Lead), and to inspire others to do their best (Motivate). This has formed the foundation of my tripartite ethos: to Speak, Lead, and Motivate.
The central focus of Jonesyhub will be to develop leadership & communication skills and thus increase the means to support & motivate yourself and others with you, to progress; thus encouraging personal development and a progressive learning journey.
I have learned lessons and developed methods for each of these principles and want to share them through this platform.
My belief in this simple foundation for success has been solidified through my journey of over 30 years’ experience in professional roles as diverse as window cleaning to a teacher, from a minister to safety management. I have worked at every level: as a sole trader, an employee, an operational manager and a board executive. I have been responsible for operational facilitation, Human Resources, Training & Development, and Apprenticeship programmes.
Regardless of the role or responsibility, the roots of success have always been the same: the ability and quality of our speaking, leading and motivating!
So, in private endeavour or professional enterprise, in personal performance or through team production, if you have not had the results you wanted; the reaction you hoped for; or response you needed; then ask yourself: “did I SLAM it?”
Did I Speak effectively; Lead efficiently; was I, or those around me, truly Motivated to do the best? Did I SLAM it home?
Where ever we are within our employment evolution; learning, developing or just improving, these three roots:
Speak– communicating clearly and accurately;
Lead – showing the way by example;
Motivate – supporting and inspiring others to achieve;
will help us to succeed, to stand up, and stand out!
The SLAM Ethos
Success is anchored by the ability
& quality of how we:
- Speak: Perfect communication.
- Lead: Show the way with by our example; And
- Motivate: Inspire & support others to do their best
Why?
- To encourage personal development and professional progression.
- To help rise above, raise others and remain the course.
- To support you to stand and stand out.
“SLAM home your advantage!”
When?
Some are shy, some timid, some just rather hide than stand out.
There comes a time in most of our lives, however, when we are called upon to stand up and stand out. At interviews, in meetings, completing assignments, presenting projects, leading teams: for some of us, these things happen rarely, for others, however, they happen a lot!
If we are of the naturally nervous disposition, then I sincerely hope it comes rarely, or never. If, and when, that time does come, though, be ready!
JonesyHub is for that time: when we need to stand up you will stand out!
